Are Your Teeth Good Candidates for Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a process whereby small aesthetic issues-such as minor chips, cracks, and the like-are repaired through the application of a specialized dental resin material.

When it is properly performed, dental bonding can be a good substitute for other more expensive options such as veneers or caps. Here's more information on dental bonding, and what you should consider before undergoing the procedure.

Dental Bonding is Great for Smaller Imperfections

If your teeth are largely intact, dental bonding is probably a good choice for you. Keep in mind that we won't be applying the resin in such a way as to cover your whole tooth. In fact, dental bonding is only intended for spot repairs on teeth that are otherwise healthy and sound.

When we perform dental bonding, we will manufacture a resin that matches the color of your natural teeth. We will then carefully apply the resin only to that part of the tooth that is damaged. The material will act as a sort of patch and will repair the damage while blending in with your natural teeth. Once the repair is complete, you won't be able to tell where your natural tooth ends and the resin begins.

You Should Have Fairly Healthy and Solid Teeth

Because dental bonding involves the use of a resin to cover or repair small imperfections, it is great for teeth that are largely intact. If you have only a small area that needs attention, dental bonding will probably work for you. However, if you have teeth with significant damage, you may find that dental bonding is inadequate to give you the look that you are trying to achieve.

Please contact our office about dental bonding today. We can help you figure out whether it is the right choice for you, or whether you should consider some other form of more extensive repair.
