Fixed Dentures

Retaining your dentures with dental implants will provide the patient with stable and secure overdentures that are permanently affixed in place. Getting the most comfort and function from your denture will vastly improve your happiness. Implant secured dentures will feel like your natural teeth. Dr. Frank W. Sallustio, along with our entire team at Frank W. Sallustio DDS, MS, FACP, will evaluate your specific needs and show you the difference that dental implants can provide by securing your dentures with 2-6 implants.

For patients who no longer have any healthy teeth remaining, dentures are a necessary, though frustrating, dental device. When placed loosely in your mouth, whether with suction or denture adhesive, they provide very limited function. Most patients have to stop eating a large range of foods to accommodate their new teeth. Chewing can be difficult. Besides food, there are several other frustrations, dentures can rock back and forth on your gums, causing sore spots, and you never know when they will slip loose or even come out. Patients with traditional dentures are known to experience social anxiety and frustration with their false teeth. By simply securing your denture in place with implants, we can dramatically improve your function, comfort, fit, and overall happiness with your teeth.

Implants are a minimally invasive procedure that is approved for even our more medically delicate patients. Some implant procedures require bone grafts and months to grow new bone; other implant procedures do not. Dr. Frank W. Sallustio can evaluate your bone using 3D imaging and review your options with you.

Implant Choices

At Frank W. Sallustio DDS, MS, FACP, we welcome your questions and discussion concerning dental implants. There are a wide variety of options in the implant, the procedure, and what we can do. Implants are a titanium post that is surgically implanted into your jaw, where it will serve as an anchor to replace teeth. Implants come in a variety of lengths and widths, designed to customize your needs. Once the anchor is placed, we can attach a variety of prosthetics to the implant depending on your needs. Some patients may need a single crown, a dental bridge, a partial denture, or a full denture. When placing a full denture, we can do this by placing anywhere between 2-6 implants. The possibilities can vary.

Though implants are available to most of our patients, not every patient will be a candidate for implants. An important step in implants is able to heal properly. There are several conditions that may limit a patient's ability to heal, including medical problems, medications they are taking, or the use of tobacco products. If you suffer from a decreased ability to heal, it does not eliminate you as a candidate, but it does mean that we may need to take some pre-surgery steps which may include talking with your physician. Proper healing allows the implant to fuse with the bone as the bone heals around the implant. Dr. Frank W. Sallustio will review your medical information with you during your treatment planning, before surgery.
