![]() Since the composite that is used in bonding isn't going to respond to tooth whitening treatments, if you do notice that your bonding is discolored, there are some specific steps that you need to take. Talk to Your Dentist about Improving the Appearance of Your BondingThere are ways for your dentist to help if you notice that your bonding has become discolored. If the stain has only affected a small area on the surface of your tooth, your dentist may be able to polish it off. This will only remove a small amount of the boning material, but not enough that will cause any long-term tooth problems. If deeper staining has resulted and the stain has penetrated into the inner layers of your teeth, your dentist may need to redo the bonding restoration with new resin so that the stain is eliminated entirely. Take Care to Prevent Future StainingIt is important that you take steps to prevent staining before it arises. Just like the natural teeth, there are certain foods and substances that will stain your resin.Make sure that you avoid things like coffee, red wine, and dark-colored juices, as all of these substances can be extremely staining. Tobacco is also bad news for keeping your teeth white and should be avoided. If you have had dental bonding in the past and have noticed that this restoration has started to become discolored, contact our office today. This is the first step in restoring your teeth back to their natural color. |
