![]() Some may not have sufficient bone density in their jaw to support implants. Others may be fearful of surgery. For those who are not candidates for implants, there are other options. Tooth Supported BridgeA tooth supported bridge can be used to replace one or more teeth between two healthy teeth. The healthy teeth are used as anchors on which crowns, with false teeth between them, are placed. The healthy teeth are ground down to make room for the crowns and the bridge is cemented in place.Resin Bound BridgeAlso known as a "Maryland Bridge," the resin bound bridge is another tooth supported bridge. Instead of the false teeth being held in place by crowns, metal wings and resin (dental cement) connect the false teeth to your surrounding healthy teeth.Removable Partial DenturesAn alternative to a bridge, a removable partial denture acts to replace several missing teeth in the same area. Rather than being cemented in place, your prosthetic teeth are secured in place by metal clasps. These teeth are meant to be removed daily for cleaning. While the metal clasps are not as aesthetically appealing, these dentures are the least expensive option.Removable Full DenturesIf you are missing a full bridge of teeth, a removable full denture is a lower cost alternative to implants. The prosthesis is made from an impression of the arch. Held in place by dental adhesive, it is meant to be removed daily for cleaning. Without implants in your jaw to help preserve its integrity, the bone will eventually begin to deteriorate, meaning you may need to have a new prosthetic made.Implants are a great way to replace missing teeth, but they aren't always for everyone.
