![]() At the same time, you may not be able to afford dental implants, and you may find that a full set of dentures is simply not feasible due to the remaining teeth. Fortunately, there is a solution to a situation like this: partial dentures. What is a Partial Denture?A partial denture is constructed in such a manner as to mimic the appearance and use of your actual teeth. It will have replacement teeth which are affixed to a plastic base colored to match your gum tissue. The whole construct will usually attach to your natural teeth by using metal clasps or some other form of connector.Partial dentures are removable for cleaning or sleeping. And, because they do not require implanting metal rods (like dental implants do), they can be installed much more quickly, and in just a few visits to our office. What Should You Expect When Using a Partial Denture?Of course, as with anything, a partial denture will take some getting used to. You may have a little bit of trouble installing and removing it at first. This is simply a matter of practice: as you continue to use it, you will find that it gets easier to install and remove. Also, you might experience some slight discomfort at first. This is no different than what you would experience with full dentures. Your soft tissue in your mouth is getting used to the partial denture. After a time, this will pass, and you will find them to be comfortable and easy to use. So, if you are missing some teeth, ask us about a partial denture. You might find that it is exactly what you are looking for. |
