Not to mention that is takes quite a while to have one installed. Below, we've compiled a few steps you can take to make sure your crown last as long as possible. Crown Care TipsThe material crowns are made of can sometimes be more fragile than your natural teeth. For this reason, it is important to only eat hard foods in moderation and to be careful when doing so. Some foods to avoid when trying to protect your crown are potato chips, hard candy, and ice. Ice can be particularly harmful to crowns because it is very hard.Dental crowns should be taken care of like any of your other teeth. Make sure to brush and floss at least twice a day. Crowns are still vulnerable to decay even though they are made from a different material than your natural teeth. It is also important to come to our office once every six months for a cleaning. Bacteria in your mouth can build up even when you brush and floss regularly.
